Father Elias Leyds c.s.j. continues his English version of ‘FilioQue – the Catholic trademark’. It is a series programs treating subjects related to the dogma of the Filioque. It characterizes our Catholic faith and is crucial for understanding how and why the divine Logos, Word become flesh, as at the centre of Christian life in the world today. The goal is to reflect on our beloved Church and to develop a sharper vision on Christ’s truth. The war in the Ukraine makes these reflections particularly urgent.
Saint Paul in 2 Thess. 2,6-7 writes about ‘something’ and ‘someone’ restraining the forces of evil, until the moment that lawlessness must be allowed to manifest itself in an ultimate way: “… and now you know what is restraining it (katechon), so it be revealed at its own moment, because the mystery of lawlessness is already operating, only, the one who is restraining it (katechôn) until now, let he get out of the middle, and then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will dissolve by the Spirit of his mouth …”
Some think this will happen, others think it is happening know, others think it may have happened already. Others again wonder first, what this ‘katechon’ can be.
