March 27th, 2022: Father Elias Leyds c.s.j. continues his English version of ‘FilioQue – the Catholic trademark’. To be a priest, representing an eternal Truth that has revealed Himself, is not easy today, and particularly in the Netherlands … But with Russia things are not very clear either.
‘FilioQue – the Catholic trademark’, is a series programs treating subjects related to the dogma of the Filioque. It characterizes our Catholic faith and is crucial for understanding how and why the divine Logos, Word become flesh, as at the centre of Christian life in the world today. The goal is to reflect on our beloved Church and to develop a sharper vision on Christ’s truth.
What is the difference between follow the money and follow the anger? The war in the Ukraine makes these reflections particularly urgent.
There are also some ambiguities surrounding the consecration of Russia & Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of our Lady. The term ‘special military operation’, the only term allowed publically in Russia to designate the invasion of the Ukraine, is not just a politically correct euphemism. In fact, this terminology reveals who is in charge.
It is very difficult for westerners, heirs of the Roman tradition (‘SPQR’), to understand what it means to be ruled by an esoteric power. Once you begin to understand, it becomes also much clearer why – at least in political life – Russians are so passive and subservient.
And finally, what is the deeper meaning of what we see? Where is our place?
