Adore the Eternal with a still body and a silent soul
September, 2nd 2023 – Father Elias Leyds C.S.J. started a couple of weeks ago in FilioQue in English another collection of short reflections on the topic of ‘fighting for reality’, or ‘the war for reality’. He uses again realism and helps us to understand why religion or being religious, one of the virtues of life is what we need, to give meaning to reality and to reach our goals, our purpose in life. So the question remains: what does it take to live the virtue of religion again?
In this part, Father Elias Leyds c.s.j. stresses the importance of ‘the virtue’ of religion. How does adoration, as an act of moral life, where we recognise in soul and body that God is the almightly creator and therefor has the clearest view on why we exist, helps us? Wanting to know what he sees, helps us in our fight for reality. In this we need the connection to God, i.e. religion.
The Western world however becomes so decadent that there is no adoration anymore, i.e. it is possible to continue reaffirming that Christ is the savior without really humiliating yourself before the almightly in body and soul.
Our culture is anti-religious and destoys in many the will to adore.
Essentials of adoration are: silence, stillness and an act of bodily humility. Adoration is not an act of humiliation but it dignifies who He is, so who we are.
